Enter the heart of creation and discover the artists at work!
The Paris National Opera offers Arop members the privilege of observing the work of the artists and the genesis of a production at different times: work sessions, pre-dress rehearsals and dress rehearsals."
LE BARBIER DE SEVILLE
He knows how to make a beard and comb a hair, but also how to play the guitar and send sweet bills. Who is he? Figaro, of course, the twirling hero of The Barber of Seville, the product of Beaumarchais' fertile imagination before becoming Gioacchino Rossini's most famous opera, premiered at Rome's Teatro Argentina in 1816 at the age of just 24.
The composer may have blurred the social satire in favor of good-natured whimsy, but he imbued this comedy with a musical effervescence that is expressed in irresistible arias (“Largo al factotum”, “Una voce poco fa”...) and brilliant orchestral writing.
Damiano Michieletto makes Rossinian rhythm the centerpiece of his staging, which revolves around a huge, colorful building that evolves as the show progresses.
